Garden Update

Here is a labled layout of one of our gardens. We still need to add some tomatoes, peppers and lemon cucumbers to this garden, this most likely will not be done until next weekend. We still need to install the wood stakes and setup the nylon trellis. We are hopoing that the trullis will allows us to grow more items with all of the climbers growing up this year and not all over the garden. We will see!!!

The fun never ends

So i have realized a very important issue which i would like to share with everyone. I have developed an issue with over buying and over growing seedlings. I have found over the last month, this hobby of mine has become an addiction in many ways. I can't stop planting seeds, and i can't stop buying veggie plants!!! Though this isnt a true issue, not having anywhere to put them is!! So now not only have I had to maximize all possible growing spaces, but I am now creating quite the container garden. Should be a fun harvest.

Some more new plants.

Watermelon

Kentucky Mint

Cilantro

Impulse Buy

Call it a theme, but now we have cucumbers and tomatoes with the word "Lemon" in it, i hope this is a good sign and a productive vegetable. I just couldn't resist with the little impulse devil on my shoulder saying, buy it! On my way into the grocery store.

Corn and Lemon Cucumber seedling update

The corn is growing fast, only have two seedlings so far inside.

Lemon Cucumbers are growing very rapidly, they have doubled in size this past week.

Three of the corn seeds have pushed through the ground this past weekend. yippee.

New vegetable plants

While out at the Home Depot we picked up a few more vegetable plants that should add well to the plants we have already started as seeds. Also is nice to have a few bigger plants to feel the garden is moving forward! I am always in such a rush!! The pictures are slighly blurry...but they should show you what we purchased.

Happy Mothers Day!

So what would be better to do than garden on mothers day. We spent lots of time preping our gardens in preperation of planting. This is what our main garden area's look like.

We planted several plants in the new flower box, D was very excited to get this box filled!

One of our new hanging plants, really adds some color to our back space.

We picked this up at the Home Depot, we think it is a type of Black Eyed Susan, though we are not 100%. Let us know what you think it is, we would be happy to learn more about this flower.

Our Scotch Broom from last year is doing great, we can;t wait fo it to start flowering later in the spring.

These chives are three years old!

Three years old and still growing. It seems like each year they grow in sooner. Now these are great with a little sour cream.

My First Post - we have to start somewhere :)

I am very excited to share my garden with others. Over the last couple years I have developed a great interest in growing vegetables, even though we have a very small area. It is exciting to find creative ways to maximize the garden space. This past weekend I started my seedling, I know, I know, it is getting late in the season for doing so, but i guess it is better late then never!

The green onions and baby spinach are starting to come through but we are still waiting on the others.

We purchased a Pablano pepper plant online, we hav enver purchased online but i had an Amazon gift card and didnt know what to do with it, so what better to do then buy a pepper plant and some seeds! The pepper plant was really green and healthy, the larger fo the three plants was almost 8" tall, and has buds for peppers started. You can only imagine how great it feels at the beginning a May to have a plant so far along, I can taste the peppers already.

It is an exciting time of year, and we will be posting much more soon.
